The Size of the Small Business Does Not Matter
Our smallest client is a Sole Proprietor generating around $250,000 revenue annually, while our largest is a Holding Company doing $990 million. What really matters is the needs of the client and what they are looking for.
As a client’s business grows, they actually may outgrow us. When they reach a certain growth level, it may become more cost-effective to internalize their accounting functions, which would reduce our role, or eliminate it completely. Jennifer Foster had this to say on the subject: “It’s a mixed emotion; I take great pride in being able to help a company reach that point, but I lose a valued client.”
Then again, we have larger client companies, with 200 or more employees, that have had bad experiences with employees handling the accounting responsibilities, and insist on outsourcing their bookkeeping. They know that when they work with an outside company like ours, they are insured against loss.
