Kelly Spaulding, CPA, Staff Accountant, Foster Results

Kelly Spaulding grew up in the Anderson area of Central Indiana. She and her three siblings (two sisters and a brother) attended Lapel High School.

Kelly lives in Carmel with her husband Michael and their two children, Brittany and Carter. Most of her spare time is spent attending the kids’ sporting events and school activities. She and Michael both enjoy running, are members of Indy Runners and Carmel Runners, and participate in a number of local road races. She is also the Treasurer of her son’s Cub Scout pack.

Big Colts fans and season ticket holders, their Sundays are pretty well spoken for during football season. The family also enjoys traveling and getting away for camping trips when possible.

Kelly took a non-traditional path into accounting. She married her husband after graduating high school, and only decided to attend college after the birth of her daughter. She attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), where she graduated with a double major in Accounting and Finance. She also did her post-graduate work at IUPUI and received a Master’s Degree in Accounting.

After graduation, Kelly started her career at a large, regional CPA firm in Indianapolis. After two years, she moved to a well-established mid-sized CPA firm, where she worked for six years.

Kelly was looking for a change to balance her life better. She had met Jennifer Foster about a year earlier as a referral for one of her clients, and thought that the flexibility Foster Results offered might be the environment she was looking for.

After much discussion with Jennifer, Kelly took the leap of faith and left her job of six years. “The position at Foster Results allows the balance and flexibility that I need for my family. I won’t have “busy-seasons” any more, will not have to work on Saturdays, but will still be able to help our clients and do something I know and love.”

In her previous position, Kelly’s client focus was mostly on tax accounting for dentists, veterinarians, and small medical practices. At Foster Results, she will work with both for-profit and not-for-profit clients. “I’m excited to be able to work with our clients on a more personal level. I didn’t get to work with not-for-profit clients at my previous job, so this prospect is exciting for me. This is the type of client that really needs our help and I think it is rewarding to work with them.”

Kelly is a member of the Indiana CPA Society, where she was an active member of the Emerging Leaders Alliance and Leadership Cabinet for six years.
